The elegant mountain resort where Romanian royalty summered — home to the fairy-tale Peleș Castle, Pelișor and stunning Carpathian scenery just 130km from Bucharest.
About this trip
Sinaia is one of Romania's most beautiful towns — a mountain resort nestled in the Bucegi Mountains where Romanian kings built their summer residences in the late 19th century. The result is extraordinary: a Neo-Renaissance royal palace (Peleș), a smaller hunting castle (Pelișor), a 17th-century monastery and a charming alpine town, all within walking distance of each other.
At just 130km from Bucharest, Sinaia is our most popular day trip — and with good reason. The drive through the Prahova Valley is scenic, the town is beautiful in all seasons, and Peleș Castle genuinely deserves its reputation as one of Europe's most spectacular palaces.
