One of Europe's finest Gothic castles — the dramatic 14th-century fortress of Hunedoara in Transylvania.
About this trip
Castelul Corvinilor (Hunyadi Castle or Corvin Castle) is one of the largest and best-preserved Gothic-Renaissance castles in Europe. Built in the 14th century by John Hunyadi, its soaring towers, massive drawbridge and dramatic silhouette make it one of Romania's most spectacular sights.
Connected by legend to Vlad the Impaler (who was reportedly imprisoned here for 7 years) and to the Dracula myth, the castle stands on a rocky cliff above the Zlaști river. Every room, hall and tower tells a story of medieval power, war and legend.
